The Catawba Nation's Two Kings Casino in Kings Mountain is gearing up to swing open the doors on the first public phase of its permanent resort in late March, moving gaming out of the temporary trailer complex and onto an 80,000-square-foot ground floor. Tribal and project leaders say this opening chapter will bring hundreds of slot machines and live table games to the Charlotte region and kick off a multi-year buildout slated to wrap in spring 2027.
What the March opening will include
The introductory casino floor is expected to debut with roughly 1,300 slot machines, 22 live table games, a 40-seat restaurant and a bar, replacing the modular, single-story setup that has held down the site for years. Electronic table games and many of the slot units are already on the property, and the site recently hosted more than 900 construction workers during a progress update, as reported by WCNC.
How the full resort will top out
Project partners describe the permanent resort as a multi-level complex of roughly 2 million square feet that will ultimately house thousands of machines, dozens of table games and a 24-story hotel. Delaware North, the hospitality and management partner on the project, notes the finished property will include thousands of slots, more than 100 table games and a 385-room hotel, presenting the development as a major regional investment. Delaware North also quoted Catawba Nation Chief Brian Harris describing the resort as an economic game changer for the tribe and the broader region.
Jobs, traffic and local work
Officials say the project has already generated hundreds of construction jobs and is expected to create more than 2,000 permanent positions once the resort is fully complete. The permanent casino site sits just off I-85 near Exit 5, about 35 miles west of Charlotte, and the casino's own site lists the Kings Mountain address and local operations details for customers via Two Kings Casino. Two Kings Casino and local coverage of the buildout note the tribe also funded nearby infrastructure work, including a bridge expansion and new sewer lines, to support the resort and the anticipated traffic increases.
What to watch next
The late March introductory opening is the key milestone that signals a steady ramp toward the resort's full debut in spring 2027, and tribal leaders have said the temporary modular casino will be shut down and repurposed after the new floor opens. Hoodline previously covered the casino's incremental growth, including the addition of live table games in 2024, and will keep an eye on staffing announcements, parking access and the exact public opening date as the site works through inspections and final hiring.
