Two individuals are now facing charges following a traffic stop in Severn, Anne Arundel County, where police discovered a loaded handgun with a defaced serial number and an array of suspected narcotics. According to Fox Baltimore, the incident occurred just before noon last Saturday near Pioneer Drive and Severn Orchard Circle, resulting in the arrest of both the driver and a passenger.

Police conducted a probable cause search of the gray 2021 Ford Fusion and found not only a loaded 9mm Taurus handgun but also around 6.87 grams of suspected crack cocaine, 1.33 grams of what is believed to be heroin or fentanyl, and 1.29 grams of suspected amphetamine pills, as the inventory of seized items suggests a connection to the illicit drug trade. The vehicle occupants, identified as 27-year-old Nyzhea Emoni Shakur Green from Glen Burnie and 34-year-old Sean Lamont Cormier Jr. from Pasadena, were taken into custody and have since been charged with various offenses.

The Bay Net reports Green is facing multiple misdemeanor charges, including possession of controlled dangerous substances other than cannabis, possession of paraphernalia, and knowingly altering a firearm identification number. In contrast, Cormier's charges are more severe, with accusations of having a handgun in a vehicle, illegal possession of ammunition, drug possession, and possession of a firearm in relation to a drug offense, among others. Whereas Green was released on her own recognizance, Cormier is being held without bond.

Court proceedings for the accused are quickly approaching, with Green's trial date set for April 1 in Annapolis, and Cormier having undergone a bond review hearing on February 2, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for February 25.
