
Two teenage boys were arrested after a shooting near Union Station in Washington, D.C., on Friday afternoon last week that injured a 15-year-old. According to WJLA, Metropolitan Police Department officers responded around 4:12 p.m. to the unit block of Massachusetts Avenue, NE, where they found the victim conscious and breathing with a gunshot wound.
The victim was transported by D.C. Fire and EMS to a local hospital for treatment, and the injuries were not considered life-threatening. FOX News reported that the suspects, a 17-year-old from Northeast D.C. and a 16-year-old from Southeast D.C., were charged with assault with a dangerous weapon. Officers with the U.S. Capitol Police assisted at the scene and detained the two suspects shortly after the incident.
A firearm was later recovered near the location by an MPD K-9 officer, according to FOX 5 DC. Police have not released information about what led to the shooting or whether the victim and suspects knew each other.
The Metropolitan Police Department continues to investigate and is asking anyone with information to contact the tip line at 202-727-9099 or text 50411. A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment.
