The Town of Wake Forest hosted the Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce’s Youth Leadership program on Wednesday, aiming to engage high school students in local government. According to a social media post by the Town, students from Wake Forest High School, Heritage High School, Rolesville High School, and Franklin Academy participated, interacting directly with local leaders.
The session focused on civic leadership, giving students an opportunity to actively engage with local government processes. Mayor Clapsaddle and Town Manager Kip Padgett shared their experiences on leadership, while Commissioners Keith Shackleford, Haseeb Fatmi, and Nick Sliwinski guided students through a mock Board of Commissioners meeting to provide hands-on insight into the responsibilities and decision-making processes of town governance.
The educational visit concluded with a trip to Fire Station 1, where students toured the facility and learned about the operations and services of the Wake Forest Fire Department. The experience provided a firsthand look at the roles public servants play in ensuring community safety and well-being.
The Town of Wake Forest expressed appreciation to the students, thanking them for participating in the Youth Leadership program at Town Hall.
