
A death investigation is underway in Annapolis after a man's body was pulled from the water beneath the College Creek Bridge, just outside the U.S. Naval Academy, on Monday afternoon.
Officers were called to the 300 block of Rowe Boulevard at about 4:21 p.m. for reports of a person in the water. When they arrived under the College Creek Bridge, they found the man unresponsive. His identity is being withheld while authorities work to notify his next of kin. Police have formally opened a death investigation and say additional details will be released as they are confirmed.
What Police Say
According to Annapolis Police, officers responded at about 4:21 p.m. Monday to the report of a person in the water beneath the College Creek Bridge and located the body shortly after arriving. Investigators said there were no obvious signs of foul play at the scene.
The body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, which will handle formal identification and determine the cause of death, according to Daily Voice.
Where It Happened
College Creek is a tidal inlet off the Severn River that runs along the edge of the U.S. Naval Academy grounds. The Rowe Boulevard bridge that crosses it sits just outside the Academy's perimeter.
The creek and the bridge appear in recent Naval planning and environmental documents that highlight how close the crossing is to Academy property, according to a Department of the Navy environmental assessment.

Annapolis Police say the case remains an active death investigation and that more information will be released as detectives complete their initial work.
