
Police are looking for a man they say groped a 37-year-old woman on a Kingsbridge Heights sidewalk on Feb. 17, 2026. The incident was reported around 7:27 p.m. near Albany Crescent and West 231st Street. According to police, the woman was walking when a man approached her, struck up a conversation and then grabbed her buttocks over her clothing before running north on Albany Crescent toward West 231st Street.
What police say
The NYPD’s Crime Stoppers unit put out a wanted alert on March 8 asking for the public’s help identifying the suspect. In that alert, investigators repeat that the man approached the 37-year-old, engaged her in conversation, grabbed her buttocks over her clothing and then fled northbound on Albany Crescent, according to NYPD Crime Stoppers.

The groping was reported within the NYPD’s 50th Precinct, which covers Kingsbridge Heights, Riverdale and nearby pockets of the northwest Bronx. The precinct’s official page lists its patrol area along with contact details for community affairs officers and detectives, per the NYPD.
What the law says
Police have described the incident as forcible touching, which New York Penal Law §130.52 defines as intentionally touching another person’s sexual or intimate parts to degrade that person or to gratify the actor. It is typically charged as a class A misdemeanor, according to New York Courts' guidance.
