Law enforcement across northern Ohio is asking residents to keep an eye out for 33-year-old Lura Brown, a fugitive that state and local authorities say they want back in custody, with a cash reward on the table for tips that lead to her arrest.
The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force says Brown is wanted by the Ohio Adult Parole Authority and the Stark County Sheriff’s Office after allegedly failing to register as a sex offender and violating parole. She is described as a white woman, about 5 feet tall and roughly 132 pounds, and is known to spend time in both Canton and Cleveland, according to WOIO.
The Akron Police Department amplified the task force notice in a Facebook post on Tuesday, urging anyone with information on Brown’s whereabouts to speak up. Local coverage reports that reward money is available and that tips can be called in to 1‑866‑4WANTED, per WHBC.
How to submit tips
Officials say tips can also be submitted online through the U.S. Marshals Service tip portal. The site explains how to send information securely and how tipsters can keep communicating with investigators while staying anonymous through the portal.
Charges and court records
Stark County court documents reviewed by local outlets indicate Brown failed to register her address in January and is listed as a habitual offender, according to WHBC. Separately, the Ohio Adult Parole Authority has issued a warrant accusing her of parole violations, officials told WOIO.
What the task force does
The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force is a regional partnership that brings together the U.S. Marshals Service, county sheriffs, and local police departments to track and arrest wanted suspects across northern Ohio. Since its creation, the unit has cleared thousands of warrants, according to a history of the task force reported by Richland Source.
Authorities are asking anyone who believes they see Brown not to approach her. Instead, they say to call 911 or share information through the U.S. Marshals’ tip channels. Tipsters can remain anonymous, and investigators say reward money may be available for information that leads to her arrest.
