Dirty Dough, the fast-growing stuffed-cookie chain, is gearing up for a San Antonio return, this time targeting Alamo Heights. The brand is promising the same gooey, overstuffed cookies that blew up on social media, plus an expanded cast of cinnamon rolls, shakes and other sugar-loaded extras. It is the latest twist in the city’s increasingly crowded cookie scene, according to CultureMap San Antonio.
As reported by CultureMap San Antonio, Dirty Dough plans to move into the suite at 5216 Broadway in the Arcadia Grove Shopping Center and is eyeing an opening later in 2026. The outlet notes that the menu has grown beyond stuffed cookies to feature maple bacon cinnamon rolls, fluffernutter bars, churro waffle bites, shakes and so-called “dirty sodas.” CultureMap also points to Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation project details that estimate construction will wrap in early July, while cautioning that those timelines are subject to change.
Cookie wars and new ownership
The brand started as dorm-room tinkering at Arizona State University before going national, but its rise has not been entirely sweet. In 2022, Crumbl Cookies sued Dirty Dough, alleging trademark and trade-dress infringement, a clash that drew heavy online attention and was covered by KJZZ. The dispute later settled, clearing the way for the company to refocus on growth.
Since that period, Dirty Dough has been taken under the wing of platform operator Craveworthy Brands, which announced a stake in the company in early 2024 and has been accelerating expansion plans, according to Food Business News.
Local track record
San Antonio has seen this act before. Dirty Dough’s first local outpost opened in 2022 but closed after roughly six months. The local operator cited slow business as the reason, according to a December 2023 report in MySA, which quoted owner Jalon Miyasaki on the decision and noted that the brand’s website still listed another San Antonio location at the time.
Even so, the city has been flooded with cookie concepts in recent years, giving Alamo Heights no shortage of dessert-hungry customers. If the timing, visibility and foot traffic line up this round, the Broadway shop could benefit from a far warmer reception than the first go.
Where it will sit
The planned bakery will tuck into the Arcadia Grove Shopping Center on Broadway, where a lease brochure lists 5216 among the center’s suite numbers. The site map in a leasing document from Valcor Properties shows the run of Broadway-facing storefronts, including the future cookie shop’s slot.
Dirty Dough has not announced an official opening date. For now, construction schedules, inspections and permitting will determine when the Alamo Heights cookie counter finally flips its sign to “open.”
