The blender has finally stopped whirring at Margaritaville Cleveland. The Jimmy Buffett-branded restaurant at 1150 Front Ave on the Flats East Bank has now closed permanently, after what was billed as a winter "seasonal" pause starting Dec. 1, 2025, quietly turned into last call. The empty waterfront spot is the latest high-profile vacancy on a stretch of the Flats that has already been struggling to keep nightlife traffic steady.
PR firm Finn Partners, speaking for the brand, confirmed to WKYC that the Cleveland location is permanently closed. At the same time, the restaurant's official site still lists the East Bank address and describes the venue as "closed for the season" on Margaritaville Cleveland.
Landlord says a new operator is lined up
Landlord Bobby George told Cleveland Scene that "we made a deal" and that a new tenant partner is already lined up to take over the riverfront space. The site first opened as Margaritaville in July 2017, when the chain rolled out its large, multi-bar waterfront concept on the Flats, according to earlier reporting from Cleveland Scene.
Operators point to winter traffic and rising costs
Local coverage has tied the shutdown to a familiar mix of problems for hospitality businesses: slower winter foot traffic, rising food and supply costs, and broader economic pressure. Reporting from WOIO noted that several nearby bars announced closures in early December, and restaurateurs in the area pointed to higher operating expenses and weaker crowds.
Neighbors and business owners told reporters they had already noticed thinner weekend crowds and lingering safety concerns after a September shooting that depressed traffic on the East Bank, according to follow-up coverage by Spectrum News. For now, the landlord says a new operator is lined up, but until that partner is publicly announced the waterfront space will stay dark, and the timeline for the Flats' recovery remains uncertain.
