San Pedro Limón, the family-run taqueria that has anchored Georgetown's Austin Avenue corridor since 2012, has quietly spun up a second spot on South Austin Avenue built for speed. The new location handles to-go orders, catering and fresh tortillas, giving the original North Austin Avenue restaurant breathing room to stay focused on sit-down service. The family says the split is meant to move orders faster without touching the recipes regulars already line up for.
Second Location Is Takeout-First And Houses The Tortilla Machine
The new shop at 1004 S. Austin Ave. opened in late January and now serves as the restaurant's takeout and catering hub, complete with the tortilla machine that used to sit in the main dining room. As reported by Community Impact, the plan is to keep the original 905 N. Austin Ave. spot as a sit-down restaurant while the South Austin site streamlines high-volume orders.
From Door-To-Door Tortillas To A Two-Location Operation
Owners Yuri Paz and Victor Benitez immigrated from San Pedro Limón, Mexico, and first built a following selling homemade tortillas door to door before opening their Georgetown restaurant in 2012, according to San Pedro Limón. Today their three children — Victor, Jessie and Leslie — help run and market the business, keeping family recipes and techniques at the center of the operation.
Plans For Longer Hours, Delivery And Sports Nights
"We want to make sure that we're always able to have a seat for you when you come in," eldest son Victor Benitez said, explaining the reasoning behind the split. The family told Community Impact they plan to add dinner service by the end of March, expanding hours to roughly 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. They also intend to outfit the restaurant with TVs for live sports while preparing to partner with DoorDash and launch an online store for easier ordering.
How Locals Will Notice The Change
The restaurant's social posts confirm catering is available at the second location and list both addresses and a pickup number, as shown on FindGlocal. The business also offers online ordering on its site, where customers can place pickup orders for either location, per San Pedro Limón.
For regulars, the two-site model is intended to mean quicker pickup windows and less crowded dining rooms at the original spot. The Benitez family says the shift lets them grow the business without losing the home-cooked consistency that built their reputation.
