
Gunfire tore through a unit at the Raupp Apartments in Melvindale on Sunday, leaving a 13-year-old girl shot inside her home and police scrambling for answers.
The shooting unfolded around 8:30 p.m. in the 17000 block of Raupp and Oakwood, according to police. The girl was hit in the wrist and treated at the scene, and officers said her injury did not require a trip to the hospital. The report of shots fired brought an immediate response from law enforcement.

Investigators say two men got out of a dark-colored sedan that had parked on Homestead Street, fired into the apartment, then climbed back into the vehicle and took off south on Raupp Street. Officers recovered spent shell casings outside and found the wounded girl inside the unit, according to details provided by local law enforcement and reported by FOX 2 Detroit.
"This type of reckless behavior will not be tolerated in Melvindale," Police Chief Christopher Egan said. He warned that the suspect is considered armed and dangerous and urged residents and business owners in the area to review any camera footage they may have. Officers described the shooter as a male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his head, per FOX 2 Detroit.
