What used to be an insurance office on Milwaukee’s South Side is about to get a lot more colorful. Entrepreneur Maria Acevedo is turning 2206 S. Muskego Ave. into a brick‑and‑mortar home for her juice brand Just Pressed, with a tentative mid‑April opening on the horizon and limited on‑site seating planned.
As reported by Urban Milwaukee, the business is set to occupy roughly 588 square feet in the Forest Home Hills neighborhood, trading office desks for a warm, cafe‑style setup. The shop plans to debut with a lineup of cold‑pressed, whole‑food juices with no preservatives or added sugars, featuring blends like Blush Theory, Purple Passion, Day Break and Reset Mode.
Acevedo told Urban Milwaukee that a childhood health scare pushed her toward this path. “I experienced a heart condition at the age of 11, and ever since then I’ve been super knowledgeable about the foods I’m consuming,” she said, adding that the storefront is also about elevating the neighborhood and showing younger residents that business ownership and wellness can travel the same road.
Menu and setup
According to Just Pressed’s website, the juices are organic, made in small batches and contain no preservatives or added sugars, sticking closely to a whole‑food philosophy. The online catalog highlights core blends such as Blush Theory, Purple Passion, Day Break and Reset Mode, along with wellness shots and other bottled options. The South Side shop is expected to be compact and mostly geared toward takeout, with only a small number of seats for those who want to linger.
Permits and timeline
Before any of that juice starts flowing, the business still has to clear the city’s regulatory hurdles. Milwaukee requires new food establishments to complete a formal plan review and obtain the necessary licenses and inspections. City guidance notes that plan review looks at building, plumbing, electrical, fire safety and ADA compliance. The Milwaukee Health Department handles plan review and works with the City Clerk’s licensing division on food‑dealer licensing for new operations, steps that must be completed before opening day. With those reviews often taking weeks, the mid‑April launch remains a goal rather than a guarantee.
Local context
Just Pressed is tapping into a small but growing juice scene in Milwaukee, where health‑minded operations and pop‑ups have been serving neighborhood markets and events. The Juice Kitchen pop‑up, for instance, has appeared at local markets and signaled steady interest in quick, health‑focused options in community settings, according to the Milwaukee Neighborhood News Service.
