A string of vehicle break-ins around Sunny Street and Summit Court has ended with two men in handcuffs, after Kissimmee detectives traced a stolen car and followed the trail to a stash of stolen property and a handgun, according to police and county records.
How Detectives Say the Arrest Went Down
According to West Orlando News, the Kissimmee Police Department says officers arrested Erick Rivera-Santos and Genaro Vazquez-Maristani in connection with a series of vehicle burglaries in the Sunny Street and Summit Court area.
Detectives tracked one of the stolen vehicles to a specific location and carried out a felony stop, where Rivera-Santos was taken into custody, the outlet reports. A search warrant executed during the Central Florida investigation led to the recovery of multiple stolen items, including a stolen handgun.
What Jail Records Show
Per Osceola County Corrections records, both Rivera-Santos and Vazquez-Maristani appear in county booking logs with entries dated March 2. Those entries line up with the police account of arrests and charges tied to the vehicle-burglary probe.
A Problem That Keeps Coming Back
Vehicle burglaries have been a recurring headache for residents in Kissimmee and nearby parts of Osceola County, with earlier waves prompting multiple arrests and investigations. Similar car break-ins at the H2O Water Park last summer also led to arrests, as reported by WESH.
The Charges And What They Could Mean
Police say Rivera-Santos was charged with occupied burglary, while Vazquez-Maristani faced possession-related counts. Occupied burglary is treated as a serious offense under state law.
Florida Statutes outline burglary penalties that can include second-degree felony charges and prison terms of up to 15 years, depending on the facts of the case.
The investigation remains active, and the case is expected to move through the Osceola County court system. Authorities have not released further information on potential additional charges or upcoming court dates.
