A tense Monday night in northwest Las Vegas wrapped up quietly in the early hours of Tuesday, when one person was taken into custody after a barricade situation near Lake Mead and Jones boulevards. What began as a reported domestic disturbance turned into a standoff when someone inside a home refused to come out, prompting police to treat the call as a barricade. Specialized units eventually convinced the individual to leave the residence and surrender without incident.
According to KSNV, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said officers were dispatched around 9:24 p.m. Monday to the 5800 block of West Lake Mead Boulevard for a domestic disturbance report. When one person in the home refused to exit, Metro classified the situation as a barricade and called in SWAT along with crisis negotiators. The person later came out of the house and was taken into custody, the department told the station.
Police response
SWAT officers and crisis negotiators stayed on scene while police secured the area, and the standoff ended with the person surrendering peacefully, as reported by FOX5. Metro has not released further information about what led up to the confrontation, and officials say the investigation remains active.
