A Las Vegas family is begging for help after a cherished dirt bike, kept in honor of a man killed in a 2022 crash, vanished from their southwest valley garage in broad daylight.
The bike, which relatives say carries memories far more valuable than its resale price, had been repainted red and lovingly worked on by the rider's surviving son. Sometime between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on March 10, it disappeared from the garage, according to the family. They say all they want now is for the bike to come back home.
The theft and the family’s public plea were detailed by 8 News Now, which reported that the family has been circulating photos and descriptions of the dirt bike as they search for leads. Relatives told the station they are not interested in whatever the bike might be worth on paper and are focused solely on recovering the keepsake.
Bike Tied To Rider Killed In 2022 Crash
The dirt bike belonged to Joshua Aquino, who police said died in a motorcycle crash in 2022 at age 31, according to FOX5. Coverage at the time described the collision, the police response, and a community left grieving.
Joshua's mother, Stacy Aquino, told 8 News Now that she later gifted the bike to her surviving son and that the family repainted it red as a tribute. Tai Aquino said the theft left them feeling "violated" and urged anyone who recognizes the distinctive red dirt bike to step forward.
Police Data And How To Help
Metro's weekly crime report shows stolen-property offenses were down year-to-date as of the week ending March 8, 2026, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's statistics. But police and grieving families alike say that even when the numbers look better, each theft can land like a gut punch.
The department's public pages list non-emergency contact and online reporting options. Tips can be phoned to 702-828-3111 or filed online through LVMPD resources.
The Aquino family is asking anyone with information, or anyone who spots a red dirt bike matching the description, to contact Metro. They say the motorcycle is priceless to them and are hoping neighbors, repair shops, or anyone with surveillance footage from that time window will come forward so the bike can finally be returned to the family it represents.
