McKeesport residents woke up Monday to news of another violent night in their city, after two people were taken to the hospital in separate late-night shootings just minutes and blocks apart on Sunday. The calls came in roughly half an hour apart, and police shut down multiple blocks while investigators combed over the scenes. One shooting unfolded near a Sunoco gas station on Lysle Boulevard, and the other in an alley near Madison Avenue.
According to CBS Pittsburgh, dispatchers said officers were first called to Lysle Boulevard near the Sunoco at about 10:33 p.m., then about 25 minutes later to an alleyway between Madison Avenue and Petty Street. The outlet reported the two scenes were roughly a quarter of a mile apart, and it was still unclear whether the incidents were connected.
What police are asking
Per the county's online information, callers can reach the tip line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS and may remain anonymous, according to Allegheny County Police. County detectives sometimes handle serious shootings in the region, and officials are again urging anyone who saw or recorded anything to share footage or details that could help move the investigation forward.
What crews saw at the scenes
KDKA crews at the scenes saw crime tape wrapped around the Sunoco and what appeared to be blood on the store's front door, while in the alley, officers were inspecting a black sedan with its flashers on, CBS Pittsburgh reported. Dispatchers told the outlet that two people were taken to hospitals, one from each shooting, but the conditions of those victims were not released.
Context: A city facing repeated incidents
McKeesport has seen several violent incidents over the past year that have kept residents and officials on edge, including a fatal shooting reported near a local cemetery last February. Local leaders and law enforcement have repeatedly asked the community to share tips and video to help solve cases.
Investigators have not released suspect descriptions or said whether any arrests were made. Anyone with information or video that could help the probe is asked to call the county tip line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS.
