
A late-night drive in Wilmington ended in tragedy Saturday when a two-vehicle rollover left one person dead and two others badly hurt, authorities said.
The collision was reported at about 10:10 p.m. on Anaheim Street near Molina Avenue and quickly drew a major emergency response. Firefighters arrived to find wreckage so severe that occupants had to be freed from the crushed vehicle, according to NBC Los Angeles.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene. A 40-year-old woman was ejected in the crash and rushed to a hospital, while a 35-year-old woman was transported in critical condition. Fire crews extricated two people who had been trapped inside a vehicle and took the injured to local hospitals, NBC Los Angeles reported. Fire officials said the cause of the crash was not immediately available.
Rescue Crews Work Through the Night
Emergency workers stabilized the injured at the scene while crews began clearing debris and making the area safe. Investigators documented the damaged vehicles as recovery efforts stretched into the night, and roadway conditions were addressed. Officials did not immediately release the names of those involved.
Investigation Under Way
Authorities have not said whether speed, impairment, or any other factors contributed to the rollover, and they have not released identifying information for the victims. The cause of the collision remains under investigation, according to NBC Los Angeles.
