Friday, March 6, 2026 — Philadelphia rolled out of bed under a low, gray ceiling, with cloudy skies, patchy to locally dense fog, and temperatures hovering around 39°F. Visibility has dropped along the Delaware and Schuylkill river corridors and in low-lying neighborhoods, so expect slower-than-normal commutes and possible flight delays through the morning.
Fog and the Morning Commute
The National Weather Service Mount Holly has a Dense Fog Advisory in effect for coastal waters through 10 AM, warning of visibility down to about a quarter to a half nautical mile; mariners should use caution, according to National Weather Service Mount Holly. Forecasters there also note IFR to LIFR conditions are likely at area airports this morning because of mist and low clouds, which could produce delays at KPHL and on regional flights.
Tonight's Rain and a Big Warm-Up
A weak wave could bring patchy light rain later today and into Friday night. A better chance of showers, along with a chance for thunderstorms, arrives Saturday night, with highs climbing into the upper 50s on Saturday, into the 60s by Sunday, and then into the 70s early next week.
How To Prepare
Build in extra time on the road, keep your low beams on in the fog, and check airline and SEPTA alerts before heading out; boaters should avoid travel if possible and make sure running lights and radar are ready if they are already underway.
