A 45-year-old man on an early-morning walk near Barclays Center ended up in the hospital last Friday after three men robbed him of his jewelry and cash at knifepoint, police said.
The mugging unfolded around 5:45 a.m. at Atlantic Avenue and Fort Greene Place in Downtown Brooklyn. According to police, the man realized he was being followed, then tripped and fell, breaking his hand in the process. While he was on the ground, one of the suspects pulled a knife and yanked two chains from his neck while another went through his pockets, taking about $150 in cash.
The stolen chains were worth roughly $2,300, investigators said. EMS took the victim to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
As reported by the Brooklyn Daily Eagle, police released surveillance photos and descriptions of the three suspects, who ran off on foot. The first suspect was last seen in a gray hat, black ski mask, black jacket and gray pants. The second wore a black jacket and black pants. The third wore a black hat, gray sweatshirt, black jacket, gray sweatpants and carried a blue bookbag, according to the NYPD.

Incidents Near The Transit Hub

In one case, a 67-year-old subway rider was pummeled and robbed on the station platform, according to 1010 WINS. In another January incident, two boys were robbed of their cell phones near the arena, as reported by the Brooklyn Daily Eagle.
Anyone who witnessed last Friday morning's robbery, or who has video from around Atlantic Avenue and Fort Greene Place at the time of the incident, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers. The NYPD says the investigation remains ongoing.
