Travelers hustling through Philadelphia International Airport now have one more reason to linger in Terminal C: a fresh-out-of-the-oven cookie. Insomnia Cookies has opened its first-ever airport counter at PHL, bringing the Philly-born brand directly to the concourse and targeting everyone from late-night road warriors to anyone who suddenly realizes they need a sugar fix before boarding.
The compact counter sits just off the Terminal C security checkpoint and is stocked with Insomnia’s greatest hits, including Double Chocolate Chunk, Confetti Deluxe and White Chocolate Macadamia, along with ice cream, brookies and Cookie'wiches. The spot is also doubling as a mini merch stand, with exclusive Philadelphia-themed sweatshirts and water bottles. Hours are slated to run roughly from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Monday through Wednesday and until 3 a.m. Thursday through Saturday, according to NBC10 Philadelphia.
A 'Founded in Philly' addition
Insomnia’s arrival folds neatly into MarketPlace PHL’s "Founded in Philly" program, which is designed to spotlight homegrown restaurants and shops for visitors who want something more local than a generic grab-and-go. "Passengers love exploring local favorite dining options when they pass through PHL, and Insomnia Cookies will be a perfect addition to our growing 'Founded in Philly' offerings," Mel Hannah, Vice President and General Manager of MarketPlace PHL, said in a press release. The initiative has already brought in fellow hometown names like Federal Donuts & Chicken, Elixr Coffee Roasters and Oyster House across the terminals, per PHL Food & Shops.
Who’s operating the counter
The Terminal C outpost is being run by Hakan Ilhan of Airport Dining, a concession operator who already manages Bud & Marilyn’s and Sabrina’s Cafe elsewhere in the airport. Industry coverage notes that Ilhan has a track record with multiple terminal concepts and that this particular location is strategically placed to catch both preflight crowds and passengers straggling in on late-night arrivals, according to Airport Improvement.
Late-night pick-me-up for travelers
For anyone wandering PHL after 10 p.m. and staring down a wall of vending machines, Insomnia is stepping in as a warmer option. With weekend hours that stretch well past midnight, the Terminal C counter is expected to be one of the rare food spots inside the airport still serving deep into the night, offering travelers another freshly baked choice before they head for the gate, as reported by PhillyVoice.
Insomnia’s hometown roots
Insomnia Cookies started in 2003 as the brainchild of then University of Pennsylvania student Seth Berkowitz, who turned a late-night delivery idea into a full-blown business. The company has since grown into a national chain and celebrated its 350th bakery in 2025. The PHL opening is part of a wider push into nontraditional locations and venue partnerships, according to a company press release via PR Newswire.
For now, the Terminal C counter is open and serving anyone sprinting to their gate who still wants something warm and sweet in hand. MarketPlace PHL says more "Founded in Philly" concepts are on deck for 2026 as the airport continues to expand its roster of local favorites, per PHL Food & Shops.
