The Short North brunch scene is about to wake up a little earlier. Rooh, the Indian restaurant from chef-owner Yash Kishinchand, is launching a limited-run weekend breakfast pop-up this spring, tacking on a morning chapter to its already busy evenings.

The new service, called Mornings by Rooh, is set to debut April 10 after a brief April 5-9 closure for an interior refresh. The pop-up will run Fridays through Sundays and focus on pastries, hot breakfast sandwiches and a tight, coffee-forward drink lineup. When doors reopen, the restaurant will also roll out a refreshed dinner menu.

Menu highlights

The early menu will feature a breakfast sandwich, a lobster yuzu croissant roll and chocolate chip cookies sweetened with jaggery, plus a rotating coffee program. Rooh is teaming up with Columbus roaster Royal Flamingo for beans sourced from India, a nod to the restaurant’s roots that should give your latte a little extra story to tell.

As reported by The Columbus Dispatch, Mornings by Rooh will serve from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Chef's approach and the refresh

"Rooh has always celebrated the vibrancy of Indian cuisine, and this next chapter is about pushing that even further," Kishinchand said in an announcement to The Columbus Dispatch.

The restaurant will temporarily close April 5-9 for an interior refresh, then reopen April 10 with the breakfast pop-up and a revamped dinner menu. New dinner additions are expected to include small plates and shareable dishes such as salmon dahi puri, goat biryani and roasted bone marrow, giving night-time regulars a few new excuses to linger.

Short North context

Rooh has established itself as a Short North mainstay since opening, and it was named one of Columbus Monthly's best restaurants of 2025. Testing a morning service puts Rooh in line with a broader move by higher-end kitchens that are using daytime menus to reach new crowds and make better use of their dining rooms.

For Kishinchand, the breakfast shift doubles as a playground where French pastry technique meets Indian flavors he learned from his family. If you have been curious what that combo looks like between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., your chance is coming up fast.

When to go

Mornings by Rooh begins April 10 and will operate Fridays through Sundays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., with the restaurant closed April 5-9 for its interior refresh. Rooh is located at 685 N. High St. in the Short North. For up-to-date hours and ordering details, see Rooh's page on Toast or follow the restaurant's social channels.
