A man is still on the loose after allegedly threatening employees with a sharp object inside a South Side shoe store on Saturday afternoon, according to San Antonio police. The incident unfolded around 3:49 p.m. in the 1900 block of SW Military Drive, where a customer tried on several pairs of shoes, then went to the register and claimed he had forgotten his wallet. When workers stepped in, the man pulled what employees described as a sharp object and ran from the store. No one was hurt.
What happened
San Antonio Police Department officers were called to the scene and are investigating. Investigators described the suspect as a Hispanic male, according to WOAI. Employees told reporters the man had asked to try on multiple pairs before the confrontation, then claimed he had left his wallet elsewhere when he reached the register and tried to walk out. Staff intervened, the man reportedly produced a sharp object, then fled on foot. No arrests had been made as of Saturday night.
South Side pattern
The shoe-store threat comes amid a string of recent robberies and tense encounters on San Antonio’s South Side. On Feb. 15, a dispensary on the South Side was robbed and shots were fired, though the clerk was not hit, according to KSAT.

San Antonio police confirmed there were no reported injuries and that no arrests had been made in the shoe-store case, per WOAI. Anyone with information is urged to call the SAPD tip line at 210-207-7401 or Crime Stoppers at 210-224-STOP, according to the City of San Antonio.
The investigation remains active, and police say they are following up on leads. The department is expected to release updates as more information becomes available.
