Gunfire tore through Pittsburgh's East Liberty neighborhood early Tuesday evening, leaving a woman wounded and a nearby house scarred by bullets.
Police were called just before 6 p.m. after reports of multiple shots near Auburn Street and Larimer Avenue. Responding officers soon learned a woman had been hit. She was found inside a house with a gunshot wound to her left thigh and taken to a local hospital, where she was listed in stable condition, according to WPXI.
Investigators said they were alerted to thirteen rounds fired on Auburn Street near Larimer Avenue shortly before 6 p.m. as they worked to piece together what happened and how the woman ended up wounded inside the residence, per WPXI.
Where it happened
The shooting unfolded in East Liberty, an East End neighborhood that has been grappling with repeated gun violence in recent years. In June 2025, a mass shooting near Garland Park left multiple people wounded after rounds were fired, highlighting persistent public-safety concerns in the area, according to WTAE. Local outlets have also documented additional shootings in East Liberty and the ensuing police investigations, which have brought renewed scrutiny to safety along commercial corridors and the surrounding blocks, per the Pittsburgh Post‑Gazette.
Investigation underway
Detectives determined the house where the woman was found had been struck by gunfire and reported that no other damage had been located, WPXI reports. Authorities have not announced any arrests or released a suspect description, and police say they are continuing to work to learn more about the circumstances of the shooting.
