Milwaukee’s axe-throwing scene is tightening up its aim. AXE MKE is closing its East Side lanes and moving in with NorthSouth Club in Walker’s Point, putting both concepts under a single roof. The East Side location at 1924 E. Kenilworth Pl. will host its final throws on Sunday, April 26, with the AXE MKE experience scheduled to reopen inside NorthSouth Club on Thursday, April 30. Once the dust settles, guests will be able to pair axe throwing with NorthSouth’s deck shuffleboard, deck curling and expansive indoor-outdoor bar areas in one night out.

What's happening and when

As reported by OnMilwaukee, the two concepts will share NorthSouth Club's 12,000-square-foot space at 230 E. Pittsburgh Ave. Reservations for the updated setup will open on a rolling basis, 30 days in advance. David Poytinger, co-founder of Bars & Recreation, said shifting AXE MKE to Walker’s Point "gives it the space to grow while strengthening the overall experience we’re creating across our venues."

What the combined venue will offer

The owners pitch NorthSouth Club as a one-stop play zone with multiple ways to compete and hang out under one roof. According to Bars & Recreation, the Walker’s Point location features axe lanes, deck shuffleboard courts and a full-service bar. The company’s event listings emphasize room for leagues, corporate outings and private parties, along with trained staff who guide axe throwing and shuffleboard sessions. Folding AXE MKE into the larger footprint is meant to streamline booking and free up more space for events and late-night crowds.

Why this matters for Walker's Point and the East Side

The move fits Bars & Recreation’s broader strategy of building scalable, high-energy social venues across Milwaukee, with the goal of creating a livelier, all-in-one destination for groups, according to OnMilwaukee. NorthSouth Club originally opened in Walker’s Point in 2019 with multiple shuffleboard courts and 16 axe-throwing lanes, a combo that helped turn the block into a go-to hub for group nightlife, Urban Milwaukee reported. For East Side regulars, the consolidation means a bit more travel for axe nights, but it also delivers a bigger lineup of activities in a single stop once they get there.

Booking and logistics

Reservations, group sales details and schedule updates will continue to run through Bars & Recreation's online booking portal and event pages, where guests can check hours, age policies and options for walk-ins. For the latest availability, waivers and planning info, visit Bars & Recreation.
