A weekend traffic stop in Bee Cave turned into a full-blown search operation, ending Sunday when officers tracked down a 38-year-old man in the Signal Hill Estates neighborhood after a night of patrols on the ground and in the air.
Authorities identified the suspect as 38-year-old Timothy Kenneth Chittim and said he was arrested around noon Sunday. According to CBS Austin, Chittim was wanted by the Austin Police Department on outstanding warrants tied to domestic violence. The search began Saturday evening when Bee Cave officers tried to make a traffic stop, and the driver ran off toward the Signal Hill Estates area. Officers from the Bee Cave Police Department, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and Travis County units swept the neighborhood on foot and with aerial support before locating and arresting him.
Travis County jail records show Chittim was booked at about 2:09 p.m. Sunday on Failure to Identify and Evading Arrest charges. The county’s inmate-search portal posts official booking details and custody status, which are available through the Travis County Sheriff's Office site.
Where It Happened
The incident unfolded in Signal Hill Estates, a gated, low-density neighborhood within Bee Cave city limits, where homes sit on larger lots and residents typically expect a quieter pace. Bee Cave is a small Hill Country suburb roughly a dozen miles west of downtown Austin, and the city’s official website outlines the Bee Cave Police Department’s jurisdiction and contact information for local patrol services.
Legal Process
After someone is booked into county jail, officials notify the agency that issued any active warrants and report the person’s custody status. That agency then decides whether to seek a transfer or take further action. The Austin Police Department’s policies detail how APD documents and serves warrants; those procedures are outlined in the department’s APD General Orders.
Police have not released additional information about the domestic violence allegations tied to the APD warrants, and the case remains under investigation by local agencies. Officials say updates will be shared through standard law enforcement channels as the situation develops.
