How Hospital Evacuations Are Coordinated
County guidance says hospitals should attempt internal or horizontal relocations first and that larger transfers are coordinated by the Los Angeles County EMS Agency, which manages ambulance deployments and bed assignments during evacuations, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services. Those procedures are designed to keep patient movement to a minimum and ensure continuity of care when transfers are necessary.
The LAFD alert was the earliest public notice of the incident, and the dispatch did not list patient counts or injuries. Hospital and city officials had not attached separate statements to the department's message at the time it was posted. We will monitor updates from emergency agencies and the hospital as more information becomes available.
