Seattle officers followed a digital trail to a Capitol Hill parking lot on Friday, tracking a 20-year-old man’s court-ordered ankle monitor to a car that, police say, was loaded with guns and contraband. Working with a Department of Corrections officer, they arrested the man without any reported injuries and later booked him into the regional South Correctional Entity (SCORE) jail. The case is logged under incident number 2026-98656 as the investigation moves forward.
Weapons and evidence recovered
After detaining the man, officers say they searched the vehicle and found three handguns, multiple magazines, ammunition, and cannabis paraphernalia inside the car, according to the Seattle Police Department on X. The department’s post credits Detective Eric Muñoz and includes photos of the seized items.
How police tracked the suspect
Detective Eric Muñoz wrote on the department’s blotter that officers used the man’s ankle monitoring device to home in on a parking lot in the 1000 block of 8th Avenue on Capitol Hill, where they found and arrested him. According to the SPD blotter, the 20-year-old was on active Department of Corrections supervision for multiple crimes, including armed robbery, and “violated DOC supervision by possessing guns and contraband.”
Potential charges and legal context
Because the man was under DOC supervision and has prior felony convictions, he could face counts related to unlawful firearm possession and supervision violations as prosecutors review the case. Washington law prohibits people convicted of certain felonies from possessing firearms; RCW 9.41.040 outlines the restrictions and potential penalties for unlawful firearm possession.
Booking and next steps
Police say the man was booked into the South Correctional Entity (SCORE) jail and remains in custody while detectives continue processing evidence. The SCORE website lists the facility’s location and contact information for family members or attorneys seeking records or visitation details. Prosecutors will determine formal charges as the investigation continues.
