Hungry Houston travelers now have a new place to kill time after clearing security. Chili's has quietly opened a full-service location inside George Bush Intercontinental Airport's Terminal E, offering sit-down meals and to-go orders for passengers who are already past the TSA checkpoint. The restaurant began serving on March 18 and joins a wave of new concessions in the terminal's refreshed international processing area, adding another familiar, midpriced option in a concourse that has been under heavy renovation.
According to Community Impact, Chili's officials marked the March 18 opening by spotlighting the chain's usual American and Tex-Mex lineup, including fajitas, steaks, burgers, chicken dishes and pasta. The company menu, listed on Chili's, indicates the IAH outpost will offer both dine-in service and takeaway for travelers on tight connections. Community Impact also reported that the airport promoted the debut on its social media channels.
Part of Terminal E's refresh
The Chili's buildout is tied to the International Central Processor and Terminal E upgrade program, which is focused on speeding up international check-in and security for global flyers. Houston Airports has highlighted a slate of new food and beverage options, including Chick-fil-A and Einstein Bros., and listed Chili's among the brands set to roll out with the larger terminal overhaul. Airport leaders have pitched the retail and dining refresh as a quality-of-life boost for passengers ahead of a packed 2026 event calendar.
Who is behind the concession
SSP America, the concessions operator, shared on LinkedIn that it teamed up with the Houston Airport System and Chili's to bring the restaurant into Terminal E. The company noted that the new spot offers traditional dining-room seating along with takeout, all located past the TSA checkpoint. The SSP America post appeared alongside the airport's own social media announcements about the opening and follows recent changes that shifted more check-in activity and additional TSA lanes into Terminal E.
What travelers should know
The Chili's sits airside inside Terminal E, so it is only accessible to ticketed passengers who have already passed through security. Once there, travelers have one more choice among an expanding mix of sit-down and grab-and-go options. Airport officials have said the new openings are intended to add recognizable dining brands, ease crowding in neighboring concourses and support job growth tied to the terminal's redevelopment. As Houston Airports noted, the concession upgrades are being framed as wins both for passenger experience and for the local workforce.
