Federal marshals arrested a Cleveland man Friday on a warrant accusing him of killing an innocent bystander in a 2021 East Side shooting, capping a multi-agency search that followed a vehicle linked to the suspect to a local home.
U.S. Marshals Task Force Tracks Suspect To Cleveland Home
Members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force located a vehicle tied to 30-year-old Regis Hill in the 19400 block of Kewanee Avenue, then ordered him to open the door. When Hill did not respond, task force members breached the entry and safely took him into custody, according to a U.S. Marshals statement reported by WOIO.
2021 East Side Shooting Left Bystander Dead
On July 5, 2021, 39-year-old Santino Deshawn Wilson was struck in the chest while walking near East 75th Street and the 7500 block of Kinsman Avenue and later died at a hospital. Cleveland police identified Hill as a suspect in February 2026 and turned the case over to the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force in March, as reported by FOX8.
Neighborhood Mourned Wilson As Officials Condemned Violence
Friends and family held a vigil at the scene after the killing, and those who knew Wilson described the loss as devastating to the neighborhood. “This type of careless violence has no place in our communities,” U.S. Marshal Pete Elliot said in a statement, per WOIO.
What Comes Next In The Case
Hill was arrested on an aggravated-murder warrant and remains in custody while Cleveland police and Cuyahoga County prosecutors prepare next steps. Authorities did not immediately release arraignment or bail information, and Wilson's aunt Yvette Goins told FOX8 the family “didn't deserve that” after seeing him days earlier.
