District 6 patrol officers descended on a smoke shop along Lem Turner Road last Sunday, walking out with a multi-pound stash of drugs, several firearms and about $8,000 in cash after a raid that led to two arrests. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said narcotics detectives assisted in the operation and that the investigation is still active. No injuries were reported.
What Officers Found And Who Was Arrested
According to a post by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, officers seized roughly 10 pounds of marijuana, about 500 grams of crystal meth, roughly 600 grams of methamphetamine in pill form, approximately 3 grams of cocaine, drug paraphernalia, five firearms and about $8,000 in cash. The agency identified the men arrested as 21-year-old Frank Maddox and 33-year-old Anthony Denson, who were taken into custody at the scene. The sheriff’s post said detectives from the narcotics unit were involved and did not list formal charges in the initial social media update.
How This Fits Into Broader Enforcement
The raid is the latest in a series of drug enforcement operations by the sheriff’s office aimed at suspected trafficking hubs around Jacksonville. In a high-profile search last October, JSO and its partners seized multiple kilograms of methamphetamine and hundreds of grams of fentanyl during a separate investigation, underscoring the department’s wider push against large-scale narcotics distribution, as reported by News4Jax.
What Happens Next
JSO said narcotics detectives will continue the investigation, and the case will be sent to prosecutors for charging decisions once their work is complete. The sheriff’s website urges residents to report suspicious activity by calling 904-630-0500 and notes that public safety advisories are regularly posted online, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
