Federal agents say a well-known Corpus Christi tire shop owner is at the center of a violent kidnapping case, and now they want to hear from anyone who thinks they might have been one of his victims.
The FBI’s Houston field office says investigators believe Victor “Danny” Almaguer, the owner of Danny’s Tire Service in Corpus Christi, may have targeted more people than the one man named so far in a federal indictment. When agents put out their public call for tips, they did not release a full list of alleged incidents or spell out how many potential victims they think are out there.
In a post by FBI Houston, agents asked anyone with information to call 832-426-0778 or submit tips online. The tip line is open to people who believe they were victimized by Almaguer, as well as anyone who thinks they might have information that could help the investigation. The bureau described the request as part of an active federal probe and kept the specifics about other possible victims under wraps.
What The Feds Say Happened
According to federal court documents unsealed Sept. 24, 2025, prosecutors say Almaguer and several co-defendants staged an online trap that turned violent. The indictment alleges they used a fake Facebook Marketplace post to lure a man to a Baldwin Boulevard location, then detained and assaulted him, forcing him to make cash withdrawals and buy $10,000 worth of jewelry.
As reported by KRIS 6 News, prosecutors say the group did not stop there. They allegedly used the victim’s personal information to open accounts and apply for credit in his name after the attack.
Court Proceedings
Almaguer has pleaded not guilty to federal counts that include conspiracy to kidnap, wire fraud and aggravated identity theft. Prosecutors have asked a judge to keep him behind bars while the case moves forward.
As reported by Telemundo Corpus Christi, the kidnapping-conspiracy charge alone carries a possible life sentence if he is convicted. The related fraud counts come with additional potential penalties ranging from two to 20 years, separate from any sentence for aggravated identity theft.
Where The Alleged Scheme Played Out
Authorities say the alleged scheme was centered on Danny’s Tire Service’s westside shop. The business lists that location as Danny’s Tire Service #2 at 2814 Baldwin Blvd, according to the company’s website.
Danny's Tire Service operates multiple locations across Corpus Christi. Investigators say the broader footprint of the business matters as they try to determine whether there are additional victims connected to any of the other shops.
Legal Stakes For The Owner
Federal prosecutors have charged Almaguer with a stack of felonies that, if proven in court, could put him away for decades. The indictment lists conspiracy to kidnap, wire fraud and aggravated identity theft among the counts he is facing.
As detailed by Telemundo Corpus Christi, the kidnapping conspiracy count can carry a life term, while the various fraud-related charges could add many more years on top of any sentence for identity theft.
How To Contact Investigators
In its public appeal, FBI Houston urged anyone with information about Almaguer or the alleged scheme to call 832-426-0778 or send in a tip online.
Officials say that if you believe you are in immediate danger, you should first call local police or 911. They also encourage potential victims and witnesses to keep any screenshots, receipts, text messages or other records that might help agents connect the dots as they look for other people who may have been caught up in the case.
