
A routine stop at a west Houston gas station turned deadly Monday night when a man was shot multiple times in the chest in the parking lot near Gessner Road and Tanner Road, police said. The shooting happened around 8:30 p.m., and Houston detectives have opened a homicide investigation. The victim’s identity has not been released, and officers have not yet said what they believe led up to the gunfire.
What Officials Are Saying
According to FOX 26 Houston, officers arrived after reports of shots fired and found a man in the parking lot with several gunshot wounds to the chest. He was later pronounced dead. FOX 26 reported that the shooting took place near the intersection of Gessner and Tanner at about 8:30 p.m., and that Houston police are treating the case as a homicide.
Recent Violence On Gessner Road
The killing is the latest in a string of recent shootings on or near South Gessner Road. In a news release, the Houston Police Department said officers responded on April 11 to a separate shooting at 5700 South Gessner Road that left a 17-year-old dead and a 16-year-old hospitalized. That statement also urged anyone with information about the April 11 case to contact HPD Homicide or Crime Stoppers.
Investigators Seek Witnesses
As reported by Click2Houston, detectives in the earlier South Gessner shooting were questioning multiple people and asking the public for tips. In Monday’s gas station case, investigators have not yet released any suspect descriptions or a possible motive. Anyone with information about either shooting is asked to contact HPD’s Homicide Division or Crime Stoppers, according to the reports.
Police have not announced any arrests in the gas station killing. Authorities said they plan to release additional details as the investigation moves forward, per FOX 26 Houston.
