Tuesday evening turned tense in downtown Los Angeles as the Los Angeles Fire Department reported a person threatening to jump from an overpass near 333 N. Los Angeles Street, overlooking the 101 Freeway. Fire crews moved into position at the overpass, setting up a response to the possible jumper.
What Officials Reported
According to LAFD, the incident was logged as “Jumper 04/28/2026 INC#1368” at 5:16 p.m. The alert lists the address as 333 N. Los Angeles St and describes a person threatening to jump from an overpass to the 101 Freeway. The department’s post notes that LAFD, the California Highway Patrol, and LAPD were all on scene, with rescue air cushions deployed. Fire Station 3 and Battalion 1 were among the units assigned to the call.
Downtown Pattern
This latest alert fits into a worrying pattern of “jumper” responses downtown this month, including a similar call near S. Flower Street earlier in April. That earlier coverage noted that initial LAFD posts on these incidents tend to focus on unit assignments, maps, and deployment details, while information about how situations resolve often arrives later.
What This Means For Locals
The department also pushed the alert to its X account, including a map and a DETAILS link so people could follow the response in real time. LAFD on X shows the brief notice that set the multi-agency response in motion. Residents near the 101, along with downtown drivers, were urged to steer clear of the area and follow directions from emergency personnel on scene. For emergencies, officials remind the public to call 911.
