That box of DTF Sexual Chocolate was supposed to heat up your love life, not act like a pharmacy. The product has been voluntarily recalled nationwide after laboratory tests found it contains prescription erectile dysfunction drugs, specifically sildenafil and tadalafil, the active ingredients in Viagra and Cialis. The recall covers items the seller purchased and resold online and through adult retailers across the country, landing in the middle of a growing wave of warnings about sex-enhancement snacks.
Recall Details From Nalpac and the FDA
Distributor Nalpac says it is voluntarily pulling DTF Sexual Chocolate from the market after testing found undeclared sildenafil and tadalafil in the product. The affected chocolates are packaged in cases of 20 retail units and can be identified by UPC 757817783069. Nalpac says it is emailing customers and arranging returns and stresses it is only the seller, not the manufacturer, and has not received any reports of adverse events, according to the FDA.
Where It Was Sold and Who Should Worry
The recalled chocolate was sold online through shopsexology.com and royalsins.com, along with other adult-oriented retailers. Anyone who bought packages with that UPC code is being asked to return the product or throw it away, as reported by MySA. Nalpac told MySA there were no reported adverse reactions as of Monday, April 6. If you have eaten the chocolate and start feeling off, you should seek medical care promptly.
Sex-Enhancement Chocolates Keep Getting Pulled
This is not a one-off situation. Earlier this spring, Gear Isle recalled its Gold Lion Aphrodisiac Chocolate and ilum Sex Chocolate after lab tests also uncovered undeclared sildenafil and tadalafil, according to Drugs.com. The FDA health fraud product database lists several sexual enhancement chocolates and supplements flagged in February and March for hidden PDE-5 inhibitors, a trend regulators say is especially risky for people taking heart medications, outlets including The Independent reported.
What To Do If It Is In Your Pantry
If you have DTF Sexual Chocolate at home, stop using it immediately and either follow the seller's return instructions or safely discard it. People on prescription nitrates or other heart drugs are at the highest risk from hidden sildenafil or tadalafil and should contact their healthcare provider if they think they were exposed. Anyone who develops symptoms such as lightheadedness, fainting, or chest pain after eating the chocolate should seek emergency medical care and report the problem through the appropriate safety channels.
