A Montgomery County man is facing a stack of charges after deputies say he sprayed more than 10 rounds into a Jefferson Township neighborhood last Friday, hitting a home and three parked cars but miraculously hurting no one. The shooting unfolded on the 300 block of Colgate Avenue and triggered a multi-day investigation by the sheriff’s Special Investigations Unit, with help from the U.S. Marshals Service.
On Thursday, that probe ended with the arrest of RaaShawn Brown. According to deputies, prosecutors have approved charges that include improper discharge of a firearm, shooting into a habitation, vandalism and improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle.
Investigation points to workplace dispute
In a Facebook update, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said detectives believe the gunfire grew out of a personal dispute between a resident and Brown. That conflict, investigators say, escalated after a workplace-related incident the day before the shooting that cost Brown his job.
Detectives with the Special Investigations Unit later executed a search warrant at a residence linked to Brown and reported finding a handgun and ammunition.
Arrest and charges
WHIO reported that deputies, working with the U.S. Marshals Service, took Brown into custody on Thursday. The station noted that investigators determined more than 10 rounds were fired into the 300 block of Colgate Avenue and confirmed that no injuries were reported in the barrage.
Next steps
The case remains active, and a court date has not yet been released, according to Country Herald. Authorities say additional details could be made public as the investigation moves forward.
