A late Tuesday morning in Fort Mohave took a sharp turn when a small single-engine plane struck the side of a house just south of Laughlin, sending the two people on board to local hospitals while everyone inside the home walked away unhurt.
Deputies with the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office said the crash was reported just before 11:40 a.m. Emergency crews arrived to find the aircraft had collided with the residence, and two occupants of the plane were transported for medical evaluations. Their injuries were described as minor, and no injuries were reported among people inside the house, according to a Mohave County Sheriffs Office news release.
In an incident notification quoted by KSNV, the airplane was identified as a Cessna T-41. The notification said the aircraft veered left during its takeoff roll and struck a garage. Authorities at the scene described the injuries to those on board as minor while crews worked to secure the wreckage and surrounding area.
Investigation Under Way
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the circumstances of the crash and will decide whether the National Transportation Safety Board should take the lead on a formal accident investigation. As is standard in these cases, investigators are expected to review pilot credentials, aircraft maintenance records and witness statements. Local deputies said incident reports will be available through the sheriff’s records unit once they are processed.
How To Follow Updates
Mohave County deputies are asking anyone with photos, video or other information about the crash to contact the sheriff’s office and to steer clear of the crash site while recovery and investigative work continues. This story will be updated as officials release more details and as investigators share their findings with the public.
