Amorino, the Paris-born gelato chain famous for sculpting scoops into delicate rose shapes, is planting its first Florida storefront in downtown St. Petersburg this weekend. The new EDGE District shop will celebrate with a grand-opening event on Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m., and organizers say the first 1,000 rose-shaped scoops are on the house. The Central Avenue spot brings the chain’s full lineup to the neighborhood, including gelato, dairy-free sorbets, gelato-filled macarons and espresso drinks.
According to Creative Loafing Tampa, the shop is opening at 1246 Central Ave N, and there is no cover for the grand-opening festivities. The company’s official store listing also confirms the Saint Petersburg address for the EDGE District boutique. Organizers say giveaways and games are on the agenda during the afternoon window, so anyone chasing a free cone should expect a line.
What to expect
Amorino’s corporate materials describe a menu anchored by 36 gelato and sorbet flavors, including more than 20 organic options, along with crepes, waffles, milkshakes and gelato-filled macarons, all made without artificial colorings or flavor enhancers, per Amorino. The brand’s calling card is the hand-shaped rose cone that lets customers stack multiple flavors petal by petal. The company notes it now operates in more than 22 countries with roughly 300 shops worldwide.
Local context
The St. Pete shop will be Amorino’s second presence in Florida, following a kiosk that opened at Tampa’s International Plaza in 2022, Patch reported. The Central Avenue storefront will share its building with Bosphorus Turkish Cuisine, franchisee Germán Rodríguez Daza told St. Pete Rising, adding one more food destination to a corridor that has seen a steady run of new restaurants and retail this spring.
Hours for the new location were reported as generally noon to 10 p.m., with later weekend hours, and the company recommends following the shop’s pages for any updates, according to Business Debut. If the free cones are gone by the time you get there, Amorino’s range of vegan sorbets and organic flavors should still give dessert seekers plenty to work with. Crowds are expected on opening day, so early birds have the best shot at a rose cone.
