Downtown Las Vegas is lining up a new excuse for a sugar fix, with Swirl Twirl Soft Serve & Taiyaki expected to open this year inside Neonopolis on Fremont Street. A City of Las Vegas permit lists the shop at 450 Fremont Street, Suite 101, and the person named on that paperwork briefly confirmed the plan in a short conversation. The concept centers on taiyaki, the fish-shaped waffle cakes that get filled with sweet fillings and crowned with soft-serve, although the operator has not yet shared a menu, hours or an opening date.
Permit shows tenant and owner
As reported by What Now Las Vegas, a City of Las Vegas permit identifies Donghwan Park as the listed tenant and ADGJ Enterprise Inc. as the primary owner, and What Now notes that Park briefly confirmed the opening. For now, the permit is the clearest public breadcrumb available, since Swirl Twirl appears to have little or no online presence.
Where the shop will be
The space sits inside the Neonopolis entertainment complex at 450 Fremont Street, just steps from a Denny’s and the Heart Attack Grill. Neonopolis lists the property at that address, and the suite previously hosted Fat Sal’s Deli when it opened downtown in 2024, a move documented by Hoodline.
What taiyaki is and why it matters
Taiyaki is a traditional Japanese fish-shaped cake that is commonly filled with sweet red-bean paste. In recent years, U.S. dessert shops have paired it with soft-serve to create the viral “fish-cone” dessert. According to Wikipedia, taiyaki has long been a street-food staple, and chains such as SomiSomi helped push the soft-serve pairing into the American mainstream.
What to watch next
Keep an eye on the City of Las Vegas permit portal for build-out and signage filings that typically show up before an opening, and watch local social accounts for any soft-opening snapshots. For now, the permit noted by What Now is the strongest public sign that Swirl Twirl is headed for Fremont, and we will update when the operator releases a menu or an opening date.
