A surveillance video shows a routine grocery run turning tense in the parking lot of a Southeast Side H‑E‑B, where two people try to steal a pickup truck and one of them points a handgun at the owner. San Antonio police say they are now looking for the pair. At the time of publication, authorities had not announced any arrests or reported any serious injuries tied to the incident.
The video captures two people walking up to the parked truck and appearing to try to take it before one suspect pulls a handgun on the owner. The owner backs away and the suspects leave the scene. As reported by KSAT, the San Antonio Police Department is asking the public to help identify the suspects and share any tips that could move the case forward.
Parking-lot thefts and city data
SAPD’s Public Safety Dashboard lets residents map motor-vehicle thefts and other offenses across ZIP codes and patrol areas so people can watch for patterns in their neighborhoods. As described by the San Antonio Express-News, the dashboard is a tool the city and residents use to track where vehicle thefts are concentrated.
How to help
Anyone who recognizes the people in the footage or has information is asked to contact the San Antonio Police Department or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 210-224-STOP (7867). According to the City of San Antonio, non-emergency reports can also be filed through the department's non-emergency line.
Save footage, stay safe
Police encourage witnesses to preserve any dash-cam or security video they have and share it directly with investigators instead of posting unedited clips online. They advise noting the date and time on the footage before turning it over. Residents are urged not to confront suspects and to call 911 if a situation feels immediately dangerous.
