A 30-year-old man is facing gun charges after police say they tied him to two late-February shootings on the same Southeast D.C. block, incidents that damaged a home and a vehicle but, by sheer luck, left no one hurt. According to a press release from the Metropolitan Police Department, Sixth District officers first responded around 11:05 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21 to the 4600 block of Hillside Road SE after reports of gunfire. When they arrived, officers found bullet damage to a residence's front door and to a vehicle parked nearby. The next evening, Feb. 22, officers were called back to the same block, where they located evidence of another shooting, but this time no injuries or property damage were reported.

Arrest in Maryland

Police identified the suspect as Shalamar Brown and say he was located in Camp Springs, Md., on Thursday, April 2, where he was taken into custody under a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant. Brown was booked on charges of endangerment with a firearm and unlawful discharge of a firearm, as reported by FOX 5 DC.

How police say the arrest unfolded

In a press release via the Metropolitan Police Department, authorities said members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force tracked Brown to Camp Springs and arrested him pursuant to the D.C. Superior Court warrant. Detectives are still investigating the February shootings and have not released additional details, including any possible motive or whether any weapons were recovered.
