Multiple suspects are in custody after a reported carjacking near the Park at Fallbrook apartments on Bammel North Houston Road Thursday evening, and a four-legged deputy helped seal the deal. Harris County Precinct 4 says its K-9, Mattress Mack, helped track down a handgun as deputies combed the area and recovered evidence.
In a Facebook post published April 16, 2026, Mark Herman, Harris County Constable Precinct 4 said deputies responded to a reported carjacking near 10155 Bammel North Houston Rd, recovered two firearms and detained multiple suspects. The update credits K-9 "Mattress Mack" with locating a second handgun during a follow-up search. The office did not immediately release suspect names or formal charges.
K-9 Mattress Mack Led The Search
Mattress Mack, a Belgian Malinois donated to the precinct and named for local businessman Jim McIngvale, was introduced to the public in 2023 and is trained to detect explosives and firearms, the Houston Chronicle reported. Precinct 4 has repeatedly spotlighted the dog on its social channels, and a similar K-9-assisted capture was recently documented after another incident the office posted about. Trained dogs like Mattress Mack are commonly used to search perimeters and help locate hidden weapons during follow-up investigations.
