Federal authorities have pushed a long-running Kansas City homicide case onto the national stage, adding KaShawn Nicola Roper to the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list on April 14, 2026. The designation elevates what officials describe as a five-year missing-fugitive case out of Kansas City. Investigators say Roper is tied to an Aug. 23, 2020, shooting that killed a 23-year-old woman and wounded another. Authorities say she should be considered armed and dangerous, believe she has ties to multiple states, and are urging anyone with credible, evidence-based tips to contact investigators as a substantial reward is now in play.
FBI Announcement and Reward
According to FBI Houston on X, Roper has been placed on the Ten Most Wanted list, and a reward of up to $1,000,000 is available for information leading to her arrest. KCTV5 and other local outlets reported on the announcement and confirmed the victim’s name as Jazmyn Henrion.
What She's Accused Of
Roper is wanted on state charges including second-degree murder, two counts of armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon, according to the FBI. The bureau notes that the shooting occurred on Aug. 23, 2020, near the 6800 block of Cleveland Avenue in Kansas City and that one woman died while another was wounded.
How Authorities Have Searched
Federal and local partners have spent years pursuing leads in the case. The U.S. Marshals Service announced in June 2021 that its Kansas City division was joining the search and offering reward money, and KSHB reported that the FBI later put up billboards around the metro to solicit tips.
Legal Status
Kansas City reporting and court documents show that Roper was charged in September 2020 in Jackson County, and local coverage has detailed how tips and billboards were used as investigators escalated outreach. The FBI and local partners have repeatedly warned that she should be treated as armed and dangerous while the search continues, according to KMBC.
