Firefighters rushed to a structure fire at 944 S Dewey Avenue in Koreatown late Tuesday, according to a Los Angeles Fire Department alert. Engine companies including Fire Station 13 were among the units dispatched. LAFD labeled the incident as a "KNOCKDOWN" fire, which in department language means crews had brought active flames under control. At the time of the alert, officials had not released any information on injuries or what sparked the blaze.
What LAFD Shared So Far
In its post on LAFD, the department named Fire Station 13 (FS13) among the responding companies and included a map and incident details link. The "KNOCKDOWN" tag signaled that firefighters had the flames under control, but the alert did not address whether anyone was hurt or how much damage the building sustained. LAFD typically follows up with a written summary on its website once crews have cleared the scene.
Same Address, Serious Past Fire
The 900 block of South Dewey is no stranger to emergency lights. On May 26, 2025, a fire at the same address left a man critically injured, as reported in coverage of a man critically injured in Koreatown triplex fire. That earlier blaze involved a vacant, boarded triplex and triggered an active investigation by fire officials at the time. With another fire now at the same site, neighbors are once again talking about building vacancy and safety on the block.
Where To Find Official Updates
LAFD posts incident summaries, along with any later determinations on cause, on its online alerts hub. For follow up information on this fire and others, check the LAFD Alerts page. For larger or more complex incidents, investigators typically work to pinpoint origin and cause while firefighters finish overhaul and examine the structure. We will continue to watch official channels and update this story if additional details are released.
