
Monroe police say a quiet Monday at a local apartment complex ended with a homicide suspect in handcuffs after officers tracked his vehicle into the city using license-plate cameras.
The department identified the man as 27-year-old Reggie Martavious Ivey and said he was wanted on an outstanding murder warrant from Chesterfield County, South Carolina. According to the department, officers carried out a planned, multi-agency operation at the complex and took Ivey into custody without anyone getting hurt. Police added that the case remains an active investigation and that they are now working closely with Chesterfield County authorities on next steps.
In a Facebook post, the Monroe Police Department said officers first flagged the suspect vehicle with Flock Safety license-plate readers, then traced it to the Icemorlee apartment complex. There, Monroe's Special Response Team and the Union County Sheriff's Office moved in on a man seated inside a parked car. How officers tracked the vehicle
Monroe officials said the break in the case started with Flock Safety automated license-plate recognition cameras, which scanned and flagged the suspect vehicle before officers located it at Icemorlee. Flock Safety explains that its ALPR systems are used by agencies across the country to identify vehicles of interest and can build a sort of vehicle "fingerprint" using plate numbers, color, visible damage and other details.

Monroe police say they will continue coordinating with Chesterfield County authorities as that agency pursues its homicide case and any related charges.
