Midday gunfire turned the intersection of North 12th Street and West Locust into an active crime scene Tuesday, when a 20-year-old was shot and wounded around 12:30 p.m. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment, and Milwaukee police say the shooter is unknown and still on the loose as the investigation continues.
Officers swarmed the area shortly after the shooting, canvassing the neighborhood and searching for evidence while detectives worked to piece together what happened. According to FOX6 Milwaukee, the department said the shooting occurred around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, information that came directly from the Milwaukee Police Department. Investigators are asking anyone who saw or heard anything to come forward with tips that could help identify a suspect.
Milwaukee police are urging anyone with information to call the department at (414) 935-7360. Those who want to stay anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at (414) 224-TIPS or use the P3 Tips app, according to the Milwaukee Police Department. Detectives routinely pull surveillance and doorbell camera footage from surrounding blocks to help reconstruct the moments before and after a shooting.
Context: Another Day Of Gunfire In The City
The shooting at 12th and Locust lands on top of a recent run of gun violence across Milwaukee, including a drive-by that injured a 1-year-old and a 20-year-old earlier this week. TMJ4 reported on that incident as officials again called on community members to share tips and any video that might point to a suspect.
So far, police have not announced any arrests in the 12th and Locust case. Detectives are continuing to collect evidence and interview witnesses, and anyone with tips or footage is asked to contact Milwaukee police, Crime Stoppers or submit information through the P3 Tips app. Officials say they plan to update the public as new information comes in.
