A late-night shooting on San Antonio's West Side sent a man to the hospital early Thursday, after officers found him wounded on El Paso Street near South Comal Street just before 2 a.m.
Police said the man had been shot in the arm and was rushed to a hospital. He is expected to recover. Detectives at the scene began piecing together what happened as patrol units blocked off the area and gathered evidence.
According to News 4 San Antonio, officers were dispatched to the block just before 2 a.m. and transported the victim to a nearby medical facility. The outlet also shared photos and raw video from the scene. As of Thursday morning, police had not announced any arrests.
Victim’s shifting story complicates case, police say
Investigators say the account they are hearing from the victim is not staying consistent.
Police told News 4 San Antonio that “the victim's story keeps changing,” a wrinkle detectives say is making it harder to figure out exactly how the shooting unfolded. Officers have not released any further information about a possible motive or potential suspects.
El Paso Street’s uneasy recent track record
El Paso Street and nearby West Side blocks have seen multiple shootings in recent years, adding to ongoing public safety concerns for the area.
In one recent case, a separate shooting was reported in the 4000 block of El Paso Street in February 2025, as documented by KSAT.
The latest investigation remains active. Authorities have not released any additional details about suspects or a possible motive.
