A quiet Sunday walk in Wilmington ended in gunfire for a 25-year-old man who later showed up at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center with a gunshot wound, leaving LAPD detectives with more questions than answers.
Hospital staff alerted the Los Angeles Police Department at about 3:20 p.m. Sunday that they were treating a man who had been shot. When officers spoke with the victim, he told them he had been walking in the Wilmington area of Los Angeles when a male suspect approached him on foot and shot him.
That is about as far as the story goes for now. According to MyNewsLA, the victim was unable to give police an exact location for where the shooting happened and could not provide a description of the attacker, leaving investigators with a mystery on their hands.
Detectives Working With Bare-Bones Details
Because the victim could not pinpoint the scene or describe the shooter, detectives are starting the investigation with only a rough area and a brief account of the encounter. LAPD officials confirmed they are investigating, but as of now have not released any additional information about possible suspects, a motive, or any arrests.
The case remains open as investigators try to piece together how a walk in Wilmington ended at a hospital trauma bay.
