Shots Ring Out Near 16th And Junction As Crowd Breaks Up
The Racine Police Department told FOX6 News Milwaukee that just before 1 a.m., an officer was already in the area of 16th Street and Junction Road, providing extra coverage after recent crowds and fights in the neighborhood. As the crowd finally started to break up, officers heard gunfire nearby, police said, and a short time later one person arrived at a hospital with gunshot wounds.
Police Crack Down On Large Gatherings
The department has recently increased patrols in spots known for drawing big crowds, an effort local outlets have described as a crackdown on disruptive "takeovers." WRJN reported on that push in June 2025, noting that officers have been putting in extra effort to break up those gatherings before they spiral.
Victim Sent To Regional Trauma Center
The wounded person who initially arrived at a local hospital was later moved to Froedtert for additional care. Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin runs the region's primary adult Level I trauma center, where serious gunshot injuries are often treated, according to Froedtert & MCW.
Racine police provided details of the incident to FOX6 News Milwaukee. The investigation is ongoing, no arrests have been announced, and authorities have not released the victim's condition.
