Gunfire shattered the quiet early Monday on Milwaukee's north side, where a 29-year-old was wounded in a shooting near 37th and Villard and taken to a hospital for treatment, police said.
According to the Milwaukee Police Department, the shooting happened around 2:14 a.m., and officers were working to track down whoever pulled the trigger, as reported by FOX6 Milwaukee. Investigators are asking anyone who saw or heard anything to come forward by calling 414-935-7360, or to share anonymous tips with Crime Stoppers at 414-224-TIPS or through the P3 Tips app.
North-side shootings add to a troubling stretch
This latest incident is part of a troubling run of north-side violence. On March 22, crossfire near 37th and Darien left one person dead and four others hurt, as reported by WTMJ, and local outlets have tracked a cluster of recent shootings along the 37th corridor, including one-dead, four-hurt coverage that underscored growing concerns about violence in the area.
Investigators canvassing the area
Police have not released the victim's name, and no arrests had been announced as of early Monday, FOX6 Milwaukee reported. Detectives canvassed the neighborhood for witnesses and surveillance footage as part of their ongoing investigation.
