
Early Wednesday on Milwaukee's south side, a 46-year-old man was shot near Muskego Avenue and Burnham Street, jolting the neighborhood awake and leaving the victim hospitalized while police look for whoever pulled the trigger.
According to the Milwaukee Police Department, the gunfire erupted at about 12:30 a.m. on April 8, the department told FOX6 News Milwaukee. Officers said no arrests had been made as of the initial report and detectives are asking anyone who might have seen or recorded something to come forward.

The shooting was reported near the intersection of Muskego Avenue and Burnham Street, a south-side corridor that has seen periodic gunfire over the years. WISN previously reported a triple shooting near Muskego and Burnham in 2021, a reminder that this stretch has been the scene of past violence. The shooting comes as the department continues rolling out its 2025 Violent Crime Reduction Plan, which emphasizes hot-spot deployments and community engagement, according to the Milwaukee Police Department.
Authorities have not released additional details about the victim's condition or any suspect description. Investigators say more information will be shared as it becomes available.
